EOC: Week 10: Channels

I think probably the most obvious channels of distribution for my fresh new beer “Deficit” will be through establishing a good relationship with the type of businesses that my target demographic hang out. I think that the Vegas Night life has one of the trendiest scenes around. What a perfect place to get started, we could, at the product launch, sponsor several nights and events for up and coming talent that is just breaking into the nightlife scene. “Success of individual channel members depends on overall channel success, all channel firms should work together smoothly. They should understand and accept their roles, coordinate their activities, and cooperate to attain overall channel goals.”( Armstrong/Kotler)( http://digitalbookshelf.artinstitutes.edu/#/books/9780558851903/pages/16446838) At these events we will have very lovely, young, pretty women handing out free samples of our product in an attempt to leave the impression upon our new customers. Very large banners with brightly colors hung around the venue will go without notice.

Week 9 EOC: Three Great Mission Statements

I think that Carlos’s at “Tangentco” mission statement is probably one of the most beautiful mission statements that I have ever read. The way that he describes the company and its beer make me immediately want to try the product.”Companies must also communicate their value propositions to customers, and what they communicate should not be left to chance.”(Armstrong/Kotler)(http://digitalbookshelf.artinstitutes.edu/#/books/9780558851903/pages/16446931) As I read RBowmanphoto’s mission I get the sense that I can really relate with it. To me it sounds like his company are the type of folks that live right down the road from you if you lived in a small town in Colorado or something. Another is Dan Plums line of beverages.”Some retailers, such as specialty stores, carry narrow product lines with deep assortments within those lines”(Armstrong/Kotler)(http://digitalbookshelf.artinstitutes.edu/#/books/9780558851903/content/16/chapter?page=7&q=variety). with his line of products and assortment flavors it sounds appealing to me and interesting. Choice can sometimes be a good thing if not overdone.

Week 8: Creative Content Final Project

Image is everything when we talk about “Deficit Beer”. That's why the look and feel of the product has to say a lot when you glance at it. Remember this has to appeal to the type of individual that thinks differently and always is willing to try something new and exciting. That's why I think that the ads for this beverage will always consist of always the younger attractive group of friends engaged in some activity that is risk taking. Or the ads will consist of the same type of friends hanging out say after a long day of extreme sports or a night out on the town performing in a “Flash Mob” prank and then enjoying the refreshing quality that the product brings them (they will be filling the void). This imagery is meant to entice the viewer in to longing after that life-style even if they are the not that type of person. But when they purchase and drink “Deficit Beer” they will feel like they are that type of individual. This one form of advertisements will be done in a wide range of media from video, print, and web. As for the Bottle and the label, the bottle will be made of glass and will be longer than other beer bottles. It’s long shape is meant to represent the “void” or “deficit” and to grab an eye. It will also be made of clear glass so that it might catch the light as the the person holding it talks with an animated action to their friends about the their many adventures. The label will have a image of a “stock” plummeting downward off of the label and will consist of bright colors like red, yellow and orange.

Week 7 EOC: The Pitch

Deficit Beer “It’s the only beer that’s ok to enjoy in the morning! “

It has been said that there are some places in the world that it is ok to drink an alcoholic beverage before noon. Those places are few and far between. And here in the US it is considered bad form to enjoy such a drink that early. But not anymore! Deficit is actually the beer that fills the need or void you have after a long night on the town with the crew. Instead of going for that “Bloody Mary” that was not mixed right and will soon give you heart-burn later on, order a Deficit for that always consistently, smooth and unfiltered flavor that combines hints of spiced wheat, citrus, coriander and a malty finish. These elements are carefully combined with the intentions of pairing it with your favorite hearty and yet comforting breakfast food, like steak, eggs and hash-browns.If breakfast is the most important meal of the day then the beverage that accompanies that feast should also be equally as important.

This beer is not for the average beer drinker, yet it is for the type that is into staying out all night and seeing things from a new perspective. The type of person that is always looking for that new adventure or that one night stand The type of individual that goes against the grain of society and is not afraid to challenge the old way of thinking. The traditional ways of doing and thinking seem to be ineffective to you as a progressive person and Deficit Beer is your beer. “Fill the Void with Deficit Beer!”

Week 6 EOC: Me times Three

In the morning and evening there are few things in my bathroom that I am delighted by and that I look forward to using. As I think of each and every task that needs to be done in order for me to take on the outside world, there are only a few that are at the top of my list. Each of these products are not only luxury in my humble opinion but a necessity. If I forget to use only one of these gems before leaving the house for school or work my whole day can be ruined. “A product’s position is the way the product is defined by consumers on important attributes—the place the product occupies in consumers’ minds relative to competing products.”(Armstrong/Kotler)(http://digitalbookshelf.artinstitutes.edu/#/books/9780558851903/pages/16446653) Before the invention of these three men’s grooming essentials I don’t know how anyone got by. The first product on the top of my list is “Prevacid 24 Hr.”. This anti-acid is a must for eliminating that acid reflux that can sneak up on me in the later part of the day. I have tried many other variations of this product and some of which are not very good. They might kick in with in a few hours but they just don’t last like “Prevacid 24 Hr.” “Prevacid” is one that is orderless, tasteless but effective when it comes to making me a happy camper.”To build profitable relationships with target customers, marketers must understand customer needs better than competitors do and deliver more customer value.”(Armstrong/Kotler)(http://digitalbookshelf.artinstitutes.edu/#/books/9780558851903/pages/16446655) Another is “Banana Republic” cologne, I think this fantastic smelling fragrance is crisp, fresh, but yet handsome in its aroma. I love applying this one before I go out on the town I have always received a good reaction from the ladies when I sport this one. Last but definitely not least is my “Gillette Edge” moisturizing shaving gel. The smell of this shaving gel smells like “Andes” mint chocolate. It reminds me of when I use to go to my grandmother’s and she would give all of us grand kids these chocolate candies if we where only good and behaved.

Week 5 EOC: Health Care Reform

When it comes to people and their health it is no laughing matter. Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is something we have all heard and know something about as Americans. The word life comes first in that line and we are responsible for our own lives, not government. Besides when the government gets involved, with what private industry can provide in a competitive way, it retards the processes. And when we are talking about people’s lives time is not a luxury we have. When private health insurance companies compete the price of one’s insurance will go down. According to the U.S Census Bureau 201,690 people were covered by private health insurance during the year 2006.
Then there comes the issue of what people fall outside of that group that actually have the need of government health care. Out of the 36,035 total in this document that fall over the age of 65 33,982 are already covered by Medicare or some type government health care. So they there is not really a demand socialized medicine. Less than a third of Males in general fall under the need of such services from the government. And in that same group 120,158 out of 145,689 are covered by some type of health insurance like private health insurance. Actually they are probably less likely to use those insurance policies that they do have. In married-couple families, women were covered mostly by their husbands totaling 187,788 and that rules them out. But the list goes on and on.

Week 4 EOC: Advertising is based on Happiness

I have been Dj-ing for over 12 years now and I have played on a plethora of Dj mixers in my day. Many of which have been cheep or what many industry professionals would call “Budget Mixers”. “Budget Mixers” are great for the crazy house party's where you know that there are going to be a risk of someone mistakenly spilling their adult beverage all over the “wheels-of-steal”. But the problem with that choice of musical, mixing, apparatus is that the quality of the sound. On the other hand, if its studio quality sound you desire there is always the $6,000.00 “Allen & Heath”. You do get what you pay for when it comes to professional Dj mixers.

In 2002 I purchased a “Pioneer DJM-600” 4-Channel Dj mixer at the “Mobile Beat” Dj trade show at the “Tropicana Convention Hall” for $900.00 cash directly from a pioneer representative. The thing originally went for $1200.00 in a retail store. Let me just say that this sturdy music blending tool has seen allot of abuse. It has been through a number of clubs, party's and events on and off the “Las Vegas Strip” and beyond. I love this mixer, it works flawlessly and allows me to be creative by expressing myself as a Dj with ease to this day.

Throughout the years as a Dj on the scene I have often required the functionality to record and then listen later to many of my performances. And a great solution for that need is the ability to listen to the weekly recordings without having to go through countless audio CDs by using an “iPod” or a “iPhone” via a “”FM Modulator”. This handy device allows you to wirelessly play back the music or audio on your “i-device” through the FM radio in your car stereo. Well I have bought many. And one brand in particular is a “Belkin” wireless FM modulator. This piece of junk, I went through at least four of them. And its always the same thing with each one.The cord that attaches to the i-device gets a short right near the plug. Now I’m not hard on them, they all fail the same way. And each one cost me about $100.00! ;-(

Week 3 EOC: Internet Privacy vs. Market Research

Wow the internet today is amazing! You can get a ton of services and information for free. Or can you? It turns out that many of the top companies across the World Wide Web are tracking us as consumers. “It’s called behavioral targeting—tracking consumers’ online browsing behavior and using it to target ads to them.” Marketing An Introduction ARMSTRONG KOTLER. Websites like dictionary.com and msn.com are using cookies made with “Javascript” to track you. As soon as you visit one of these usefull sites for one of thier services, your computer downloads sometimes one or even up to thousands at a time. After wich these sites now are reported to via the internet-cookie all the sites you like to go to.

Week 3 EOC: Making Money for Good

Ok we have all done this at one time or another, a associate or a friend of yours has come to you and asked if you would be able to donate to some local charity or their child is trying to save up enough money to go on some school trip. You really want to donate money but you just don’t have the means to make it happen. Well don’t feel bad for to much longer because there is a new service on the Internet at http://www.gazelle.com/gazelle-for-good/ . What Gazell is is a new online service that buys up all those old electronics that you have just laying around, collecting dust. When you go to their site and enter in say an older “iPod” or an old digital camera, they tell you the going price for that piece of technology. And if you decide to sell it to them, they will send you the box free of shipping for you to then send the articles back to “Gazell” in.

Your probably thinking where does the charity aspect come in at? “Gazelle For Good allows anyone to raise funds for a cause by starting an online gadget collection drive.” www.gazellforgood.com . Gazelle for Good allows you to collect used gadgets and in return they give the money to the charity of your choice or to support your cause. Gazelle will even recycle old electronics instead of just throwing away that stuff into a landfill.“Gazelle guarantees that no item sent to us will ever end up in a landfill regardless of whether or not it has value.” www.gazellforgood.com . I think that this is great idea. This solves the problem of people not having the funds to fork over for a good cause.”Gadget drives are a great fundraising idea for organizations or individuals.”www.gazellforgood.com. I know that I have plenty of old gear that I would like to get rid of for good and even in a responsible way.

EOC Week 1: Excellent Customer Service

It’s been a long time since I can remember a time that I have experience “Excellent Customer Service”. But when I was a just fifteen years old I was with my dad and my best friend and we were coming home from a week-long trip from the “Ruby Mountains” in northern Nevada. It s was a scouting trip that we had been on and we were tired. We just wanted to get home. On our way home my dads ’73 Chevy pickup burst into flames. We had to hurry and pull over and put the truck out with an extinguisher. The insurance company arranged for a tow truck to com pick us up, got us a hotel room, the whole nine yards.

“Often, they were at the scene of a wreck or at a repair shop and had no way to get to an Enterprise office to pick up a rental car. So the company came up with another game-changing idea—picking customers up wherever they happen to be and bringing them back ….. Hence, the tagline: “Pick Enterprise. We’ll Pick You Up,” which remains the company’s main value proposition to this day.” Enterprise Rent-A-Car

EOC Week One: My Voice

All my life I have always imagined myself working in an environment that allowed me to be myself and to be creative. In this place of employment I will not find myself constantly looking at the clock wondering if it is time to go home yet. In fact I hope it’s the type of place where I don’t have to punch a time clock at all. And I hope that it will seem like there isn’t enough time in the day to finish the projects that I am involved in. I love photography, drawing, painting, djay-ing (spinning records) and writing music on my computer in my spare time. I listen, read and absorb news on technology in an attempt to inspire and educate myself. And I hope someday to create my own “Startup” that will provide some very useful and addictive service that a lot of people will love to use. Lately, I have been trying to take notice of people in their everyday life. The things that they do, and how they go about doing those things fascinate me. I can’t help but to think, “I wonder if computers, technology or the web can make that job or that task that a person is trying to accomplish easier?” With the advent of these new smart-phones, I think that my job in the future, as a designer will be an exciting one. I can’t wait to get started.
